Kingdom 103: Believe in Me
Throughout the Lord Jesus' time on this earth, He had two main purposes: for people to believe in Him whom God had sent to this colony; For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. and for people to believe and obey the message His Father God had sent Him to proclaim to the world. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. Jesus made it as plain as the nose on one's face:
“He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God.”
"Whoever believes in Him" is a continuous belief. It isn't a belief that has doubts. It isn't speaking of a momentary belief but an ongoing belief in Him. It is a belief without any doubts.
When you truly believe in the Lord Jesus, you will make it your priority to live by His Word. Then and only then, will He fill you with His gift of the Holy Spirit. “If you love Me, keep My commandments. And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever" Belief in the Lord Jesus will lead to faith in Him; and you can not have faith in Him without having action. It is impossible. In essence, if you truly believe in the Lord Jesus the Christ, your lifestyle will change, your behavior will change. The ambassador James made this statement:
What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.
But someone will say, “You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe—and tremble! But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead? Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar? Do you see that faith was working together with his works, and by works faith was made perfect? And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.” And he was called the friend of God. You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only. When you fail to act upon what you believe to be right and true, it is called false faith. True faith has no fear of what others can do to your mortal body.
Keep in mind, if you truly believe in the Lord Jesus and His promises to us, there shouldn't be any fear of what others can do to your physical body. Faith and fear cannot occupy the same space at the same time; as fire and water can't occupy the same space at the same time. This is the same faith of Abraham. By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going. By faith he dwelt in the land of promise as in a foreign country, dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise; for he waited for the city which has foundations, whose builder and maker is God. Abraham didn't even question God about where he was going. He just took God at His Word. This is the way we should be. I work on this every day. As we grow in faith, we must be examples to others along the way, always encouraging them to grow in their faith. I know that I must be an example in order to write these articles. Abraham constantly showed belief and faith in the Lord God's Word. By faith Sarah herself also received strength to conceive seed, and she bore a child when she was past the age, because she judged Him faithful who had promised. Therefore from one man, and him as good as dead, were born as many as the stars of the sky in multitude—innumerable as the sand which is by the seashore.
The God that was with Abraham is the same God that sent His Son Jesus with authority to save this world from its sin--disobedience.
Always remember your greatest asset is your faith in the Lord God's Word; for it is your foundation for living!
