Kingdom 102: Understanding His Mission, Purpose and Who He Is
The Lord Jesus is alive and well. Those of us who have the Kingdom concept realize that to be hung on a cross was a curse. This is the reason Kingdom citizens don't wear a cross around their necks or post it on their vehicles. They know the Lord Jesus Christ is no longer associated with the accursed cross. He went to the cross for us, but it does not symbolize who He is.
But he, being full of the Holy Spirit, gazed into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God, and said, “Look! I see the heavens opened and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God!”
Keep in mind that the birth of Jesus the Christ was announces as the birth of a king, not a priest or some religious leader. This is very important because it emphasizes the primary focus of the mission of Jesus and His purpose for coming to planet earth. Take a moment to read His Words for coming. His priesthood was His redemptive function, but to be king was His eternal disposition. Read what He stated to Pilate when the question was asked: Pilate therefore said to Him, “Are You a king then?” Jesus answered, “You say rightly that I am a king. For this cause I was born, and for this cause I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice.”
After that conversation with King Jesus, Pilate sought to release Him, but the religious individuals wanted to kill Him. Then Pilate said to Him, “Are You not speaking to me? Do You not know that I have power to crucify You, and power to release You?” Jesus answered, “You could have no power at all against Me unless it had been given you from above. Therefore the one who delivered Me to you has the greater sin.”
From then on Pilate sought to release Him, but the Jews cried out, saying, “If you let this Man go, you are not Caesar’s friend. Whoever makes himself a king speaks against Caesar.”
When Pilate therefore heard that saying, he brought Jesus out and sat down in the judgment seat in a place that is called The Pavement, but in Hebrew, Gabbatha. Now it was the Preparation Day of the Passover, and about the sixth hour. And he said to the Jews, “Behold your King!”
But they cried out, “Away with Him, away with Him! Crucify Him!” Pilate said to them, “Shall I crucify your King?”
The chief priests answered, “We have no king but Caesar!” Then he delivered Him to them to be crucified. So they took Jesus and led Him away.
Again King Jesus gives us His reason and purpose for coming to planet earth. Dr. Luke makes it very plain: but He said to them, “I must preach the kingdom of God to the other cities also, because for this purpose I have been sent.”
Now let us return to Pilate's conversation: Pilate said to Him, “What is truth?” And when he had said this, he went out again to the Jews, and said to them, “I find no fault in Him at all. Pilate was cynical. he thought that all truth was relative, just like too many government officials, truth was whatever the majority of the people agreed with or whatever assisted them to advance their own personal agenda, power or political goals. When there is no basis for truth, there is no basis for moral right or wrong. Justice becomes whatever works or whatever assists those in power.
In the Lord's Constitution, we have a standard, that standard is the King's Word. We have a stand for truth. What is truth? His Word is Truth. King Jesus made it very plain in His prayer to the Father. They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.
