Kingdom 102: The Kingdom is Power
There are many people who attend church because they want to get saved. What they really are looking for is "fire insurance". They want to make sure that they don't go to hell. That is the reason so many have drifted away from the Constitution (God's Word). They come to the Lord God for all the wrong reasons. We see many, as we say, "backsliders" or "spiritual dropouts". Most are afraid of dying because they don't know who they are or where they are going when they leave their body. Some attend church services out of fear. They run to the front of the church when the preacher makes an altar call. They confess their sins (disobedience) and accept Jesus and get their "fire insurance" and call it "salvation". After a few months they eventually become bored, frustrated and depressed with their new found "religion". They finally go back to their old ways and behavior. The question is, why? Because they aren't discipled and put on a path of spiritual growth, and, because they find most of the very same behavior in the church as in the world. The only difference is they cover it up with a religious, sanctimonious grin and religious cliches.
The Kingdom of God is all about power, but many believers miss it because very few churches truly teach it. The ones that do have the wrong concept. They teach it or mention it from a religious viewpoint. Jesus made this statement when He was asked about His return: And He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority. But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” They think that the Holy Spirit is an "it" or some kind of force. The Lord Jesus referred to the Holy Spirit as "He". “If you love Me, keep My commandments. And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever—But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you... “But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me.
Do you want power in your life? We all like to be in control. The Holy Spirit gives you that power. The power to resist the world system, and the power to overcome anything that goes against the Lord God's principles and laws. The Lord God's Constitution reaffirms this through John the ambassador: You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. They are of the world. Therefore they speak as of the world, and the world hears them. We are of God. He who knows God hears us; he who is not of God does not hear us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error.
Without the Counselor (the Holy Spirit) we are subject to error. The problem with many churchgoers is that they haven't surrendered their will to the Father so they don't have the Holy Spirit as their power. They try to do God's Will without first knowing His Will and His purpose for their lives. They are like an unplugged lamp...no power, no light.
Remember: There are many plans in a man’s heart, nevertheless the Lord’s counsel—that will stand.
Acts 1:7-8 John 14:16, 26 John 15:26 I John 4:4-6 Proverbs 19:21
