Kingdom 102: The Kingdom Government and the Republic
As I pondered over this next article, I received some disappointing news from my wife. Dr. Ben Carson dropped out of the race for president. Why was I disappointed? Because he had Kingdom principles, even though he was sporting it under a religious banner. Most of us who are raised in a democratic society have trouble understanding the concept of a kingdom. For the same reason, we frequently have difficulty understanding the Lord God's Constitution (Bible), because His Word and message isn't about democracy. It is about a kingdom and His King. Then Pilate entered the Praetorium again, called Jesus, and said to Him, “Are You the King of the Jews?” Jesus answered him, “Are you speaking for yourself about this, or did others tell you this concerning Me?” Pilate answered, “Am I a Jew? Your own nation and the chief priests have delivered You to me. What have You done?”
Jesus answered, “My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, My servants would fight, so that I should not be delivered to the Jews; but now My kingdom is not from here.” Pilate therefore said to Him, “Are You a king then?”
Jesus answered, “You say rightly that I am a king. For this cause I was born, and for this cause I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice.”
Since we live under a democratic system of government, we tend to assume that God is democratic. Before I came into the knowledge of the Truth, that was my thinking. This isn't the case, although many of the foundational stones of democracy are part of God's Constitution. Foundational truths such as the principles of individual human rights, liberty, character and dignity. Democracy in itself isn't a scriptural or Biblical concept. Democracy arose from ancient Greece, a by-product of the thoughts of Greek philosophers such as Plato, Socrates and Aristotle. Democracy is an invention of mankind. It did not come from the Lord God's Constitution--our Bible.
As I read and study God's Constitution, I realize that in our modern world, democracy usually takes one of two forms: a republic or a parliamentary democracy. A republic is a democratic nation headed by a president elected by the people--the citizens elect an individual with the same mindset. I find that hilarious, because most people have different viewpoints than the politicians they elect. But as I stated, the ultimate power in a republic lies with the citizens rather than with the leadership. Even then, the one that they voted in office, implements their own beliefs.
Remember the phrase "In the fullness of time"? Yes, that's correct. God waited until the correct time to send His message of the Kingdom through His Son. Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world. But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons.
