Kingdom 102: Seek the Kingdom, a Divine Command
Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night.
Our focus as Kingdom citizens should always be on obeying the King's command. We as citizens of the Kingdom should always behave in a manner that represents our Kingdom culture. In order to do that, we must constantly study God's Constitution and close our ears to those who fail to take His Word seriously. Those are the ones who half-step when it comes to obeying and living His Word. They are always making excuses and giving their version of why they fail to obey and live by His Word.
The ambassador Paul had problems with the citizens in the city of Corinth. This is what he said to them: Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever? And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said: “I will dwell in them And walk among them. I will be their God, and they shall be My people.” Therefore “Come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, and I will receive you. I will be a Father to you, and you shall be My sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.” The term "Belial" only occurs in the New Testament. It refers to one who is vile in their behavior and the wicked causes destruction. The King wants us to be Holy. We are His children, as well as being citizens of the Kingdom. Seeking the Kingdom means to study with diligence. The Greek word for "be diligent" (do your best!) is spoudazo, which also means study or labor.
Please note: Only with committed and vigorous studying, can the secrets of the Kingdom and the Word of the Lord become known to us. As you consistently study His Word, the Holy Spirit (Governor) will open your mind to understand His revelation knowledge. Our obedience allows us to hear the Holy Spirit more clearly. This is what I refer to as revelation knowledge: Knowledge the Lord God reveals to you through His Word.
We should always be persistent in seeking His Will for us through His Word. The ambassador Paul wrote these words to his young brother Timothy: Remind them of these things, charging them before the Lord not to strive about words to no profit, to the ruin of the hearers. Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. Keep this in mind, unnecessarily big words bring arrogance and pride to the hearer, but words of simplicity brings enlightenment to the hearer. Jesus always kept it simple to those who were hungry for His message. It was food for their soul.
By the way, to seek also means to explore. Human explorers down through the ages traveled the globe seeking new lands, new people, new cultures and new horizons. Exploring carries the element of adventure and the Kingdom of God is indeed an adventure. It is commanded by our King to explore the Kingdom, its power, its principles, its laws, its government, its society, its culture, its economy and its benefits. In other words, everything. The Kingdom is so vast that we could spend the rest of our lives exploring it. And that would only be scratching the surface. Seeking the Kingdom isn't optional, it is a command from King Jesus the Christ.
But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
Psalm 1:1-2 II Corinthians 6:14-18 II Timothy 2:14-15 Matthew 6:33-34
