Kingdom 102: Representing the King: The Power of Our Position
As representatives of the King, we must be careful to embrace His culture and His character. Understanding we are ambassadors of the Lord Jesus and representatives of His Kingdom relieves a lot of self-imposed pressure. Being His ambassador is a wonderful privilege, but it comes with tremendous responsibilities, such as: 1. Speaking the words of the King; 2. Making our opinions, attitudes and feelings secondary to the interests of the King; 3. Speaking only on the behalf of His government; 4. Maintaining connection and communication with the King; and 5. Carrying out the policies established by the King.
Please understand, although our call to be ambassadors of the King of the universe may seem somewhat overwhelming but the pressure of that responsibility is eased when we realize all we must be concerned with is speaking the words of our King and that our strength comes from Him. Jesus followed that course without exception. That is why He was so successful in His earthly ministry. Then Jesus said to them, “When you lift up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am He, and that I do nothing of Myself; but as My Father taught Me, I speak these things. And He who sent Me is with Me. The Father has not left Me alone, for I always do those things that please Him.” Jesus made it clear that He always obeyed His Father and that He could do nothing without Him. But Jesus answered them, “My Father has been working until now, and I have been working.”...Then Jesus answered and said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner.
We should always honor and obey the Lord Jesus because His Father has given Him all authority. And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. We are to honor the Son of God just like we honor the Father. Keep in mind, God has given all judgment to His Son. For as the Father raises the dead and gives life to them, even so the Son gives life to whom He will. For the Father judges no one, but has committed all judgment to the Son, that all should honor the Son just as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him. As ambassadors of Christ, we should be concerned only with the interests of our King. Everything that we say or do should reflect His desire, purpose and culture. Our personal opinion doesn't matter. Ultimately, that should make it very simple for us. We don't need to formulate the answers or opinions. We only have to know God's Word. In the world of human diplomacy, an ambassador never shares his opinion. An ambassador who strays across the line into personal opinion risks jeopardizing his nation's reputation and possibly even it's security and sets himself up for possible censure and recall.
Some times we confuse our opinion with that of the King and end up misrepresenting Him by presenting our thoughts and ideas as His opinions, thus creating great confusion in the organized church and in the world.
We are the church; the Holy Spirit resides in us, not a brick and mortar building.
