Kingdom 102: Preach and Teach the Gospel of the Kingdom
Preach and teach the Gospel of the Kingdom...that is the commission the Lord Jesus charged us with when He commanded: Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen. He made it quite clear that the Father has given Him all authority and that He would be with us through the presence of the "Counselor" (the Holy Spirit). When will Jesus return and the end come? The answer to that question--when our commission is fulfilled. The specific hour of His return is in God's hands, but the general timing of it is in ours. I think that it is sad that we have spent so much time speculating the hour of the return of the King, when we haven't been preaching and teaching the correct message. Preaching the Gospel of the Kingdom is the real sign. When will we finally get a clue? If Jesus has not yet returned, it is because our commission to preach and teach the Gospel of the Kingdom and make disciples in all the world has not yet been fulfilled. How many organized churches today are focused on the Kingdom and actively preaching and teaching the Gospel of the Kingdom? What I have observed is that they preach prosperity, healing, tongues, faith, deliverance, or financial healing. But how many preach the Kingdom of God's government? All of these are the attributes of the Kingdom, not the Kingdom itself. Jesus made this statement when John the Baptist sent two of his disciples to Him: Now it came to pass, when Jesus finished commanding His twelve disciples, that He departed from there to teach and to preach in their cities.
And when John had heard in prison about the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples and said to Him, “Are You the Coming One, or do we look for another?”
Jesus answered and said to them, “Go and tell John the things which you hear and see: The blind see and the lame walk; the lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear; the dead are raised up and the poor have the gospel preached to them. And blessed is he who is not offended because of Me.” Notice, Jesus spoke of people being delivered, not of things. Once you embrace the Kingdom, all other things will be added to you, but first be aware of your priorities. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
Healing, faith, deliverance, provision, favor, gifts of the spirit, are all legitimate aspects of the Kingdom, but they are secondary when compared to the proclamation of the message of the Kingdom. Many don't understand the concept of the Kingdom. They have to be taught. The Lord Jesus will only return when the message of the Kingdom has been proclaimed in all the earth. That proclamation is the Believers' (the Church's) responsibility. God knows what every person on earth needs and the desire of their hearts (Psalm 37:4-5), even when we do not. The possibility of their salvation (new birth) is contained in the Kingdom message. The church doesn't need a revival. They need what they haven't been getting...the Kingdom message! Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd. Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.”
It is our responsibility to preach and teach the same Kingdom government Jesus preached. We don't need to promote a religious membership or denomination, as we have been doing for centuries. Denominations divide and categorize. Kingdom unites...truly one kingdom under God, our King.
