Kingdom 102: Kingdoms and Their Battles
The battles of the kingdoms have become the battles of this present age. The deceiver's tactics haven't changed much. he used the same old tactics on our King, in what he thought was Christ's most vulnerable moments.
Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. And when He had fasted forty days and forty nights, afterward He was hungry. Now when the tempter came to Him, he said, “If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.”
But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’”
Then the devil took Him up into the holy city, set Him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down. For it is written: ‘He shall give His angels charge over you,’ and, ‘In their hands they shall bear you up, Lest you dash your foot against a stone.’”
Jesus said to him, “It is written again, ‘You shall not tempt the Lord your God.’”
Again, the devil took Him up on an exceedingly high mountain, and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. And he said to Him, “All these things I will give You if You will fall down and worship me.”
Then Jesus said to him, “Away with you, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.’”
Then the devil left Him, and behold, angels came and ministered to Him.
After all was said and done, King Jesus put the devil in his place by quoting God's Word. You shall fear the Lord your God and serve Him, and shall take oaths in His name. Today he still attacks us most often by attempting to draw us into doubting the knowledge that we have received from the Lord God. The Lord tells us one thing, and the deceiver tells us something else. For example: If the Lord Jesus states that your son is healed, that is the King's sovereign Word. The nobleman said to Him, “Sir, come down before my child dies!” Jesus said to him, “Go your way; your son lives.” So the man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him, and he went his way. And as he was now going down, his servants met him and told him, saying, “Your son lives!” Then he inquired of them the hour when he got better. And they said to him, “Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him.” So the father knew that it was at the same hour in which Jesus said to him, “Your son lives.” And he himself believed, and his whole household. All you have to do is to take the King at His Word, just like that nobleman. But the deceiver will have those around you to state that there is no hope. In most cases, it is because they aren't of the same mindset. They don't put their trust in a God that they can't see. Remember, your faith in God's Word is your greatest asset. By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.
There are two conflicting pieces of information that comes into our minds concerning the two kingdoms. We must decide which one is real, and which one is true. Here is an example of how the two kingdoms work against each other. The kingdom of darkness is out to deceive and destroy us. It is a cheap counterfeit of God's Kingdom. The Lord God's Kingdom of light gives us life because of Jesus the Christ. His Kingdom is both light and life. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.
God's plan, which will come to pass at the time of His choosing, is for the Kingdom of His Son to undermine and replace the adversary's kingdom of darkness. Then the seventh angel sounded: And there were loud voices in heaven, saying, “The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign forever and ever!” Until that day, we who are citizens in good standing must navigate the delicate balance of living in the kingdom of darkness, while walking in the Kingdom of light. He has called us to walk in the light. But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. King Jesus made this statement: “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
