Kingdom 102: His Original Mission and Purpose
There are many opinions as to what Jesus' real mission was. Many scholars have dissected, examined, reviewed, revised and written volumes on this subject. To this day, many are still confused as to what His mission, message, methods and purpose was for coming to planet earth. In a series of scriptures I will show you the importance of His message. John, His cousin, was on the same page. In those days John the Baptist came preaching in the wilderness of Judea, and saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand!” For this is he who was spoken of by the prophet Isaiah, saying: “The voice of one crying in the wilderness: ‘Prepare the way of the Lord; make His paths straight.’” After encountering Satan's futile attempts at temptation in the wilderness, what did Jesus do? From that time Jesus began to preach and to say, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”
The Kingdom message was so important that He instructed His disciples what to say, where to go, etc. These twelve Jesus sent out and commanded them, saying: “Do not go into the way of the Gentiles, and do not enter a city of the Samaritans. But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. And as you go, preach, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give. Provide neither gold nor silver nor copper in your money belts, nor bag for your journey, nor two tunics, nor sandals, nor staffs; for a worker is worthy of his food.
“Now whatever city or town you enter, inquire who in it is worthy, and stay there till you go out. And when you go into a household, greet it. If the household is worthy, let your peace come upon it. But if it is not worthy, let your peace return to you. And whoever will not receive you nor hear your words, when you depart from that house or city, shake off the dust from your feet. Assuredly, I say to you, it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment than for that city!
King Jesus was so much in His purpose that He shared with others when the end would come. And this gospel of the Kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come. I'm sure you noticed that He stated the "Gospel of the Kingdom", not the gospel of Christianity.
This is why Jesus came: Now when it was day, He departed and went into a deserted place. And the crowd sought Him and came to Him, and tried to keep Him from leaving them; but He said to them, “I must preach the kingdom of God to the other cities also, because for this purpose I have been sent.” And He was preaching in the synagogues of Galilee. This one message He carried with Him: Now it came to pass, afterward, that He went through every city and village, preaching and bringing the glad tidings of the Kingdom of God. And the twelve were with Him.
Please realize that anytime the Kingdom was present, peace and healing was there. But if I cast out demons by the Spirit of God, surely the Kingdom of God has come upon you. Jesus never left His message to speak on financial blessing or healing. The Kingdom met their needs. This one message was all about the Kingdom of God and the King met their needs. But when the multitudes knew it, they followed Him; and He received them and spoke to them about the Kingdom of God, and healed those who had need of healing.
Jesus made this statement: Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth. I find it interesting to note that the promise is for the inheritance of the earth rather than heaven. Also, His dominion of the earth and its environment was declared by Jesus as the return of the Kingdom of God to planet earth. King Jesus came to earth, not to bring a religion or group called "Christianity" but a Kingdom, the governing influence of the Kingdom culture....His glory to planet earth. His glory is His purpose. His glory is His presence, and His presence is His culture.
Matthew 3:1-3, 4:17, 10:5-15, 24:14 Luke 4:42-44 Luke 8:1 Matthew 12:28
Luke 9:11 Matthew 5:5
