Kingdom 102: God's Plan to Restore Our Place
Why is preaching and teaching the Gospel of the Kingdom of God so important? And, why did the Lord Jesus focus so singlemindedly on that message? I would say that it all has to do with the Lord God's unchangeable purpose. From the very beginning, God's intent has been to extend His Heavenly culture, meaning His Kingdom, onto the planet earth through mankind. Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” That still remains His intent, despite the fall of man. The Lord God planted a garden eastward in Eden, and there He put the man whom He had formed. And out of the ground the Lord God made every tree grow that is pleasant to the sight and good for food. The tree of life was also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
At first, Adam and his assistant, Eve, were totally fulfilled. They were fellowshipping with God and exercising their dominion authority as was intended. However, their sin and disobedience caused them to forfeit their authority. By doing so, they lost the Kingdom. Then the Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to tend and keep it. And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, “Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.”
Keep in mind, the Lord Jesus never drifted from the message His Father gave to Him to deliver to the people here on earth. The Gospel of the Kingdom reveals how the Lord God is restoring us to our place, His original intent, from where we came. Another parable He spoke to them: “The kingdom of heaven is like leaven, which a woman took and hid in three measures of meal till it was all leavened.” Please note this is a very important point to understand. Many of us have been taught that the Gospel means that the Lord God is preparing to take us back to heaven as our home. That isn't true restoration. Why? Because we didn't come from heaven. We fell, but not from heaven. Mankind fell from our dominion authority on planet earth. We will be restored to our original place of dominion authority on earth. By the way, there will be a new Heaven and Earth. The Lord Jesus showed this to John. Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea. Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”
Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” And He said to me, “Write, for these words are true and faithful.”
And He said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely to him who thirsts. He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son.
Are you receiving the big picture here? This should cause you to shout in all you may be going through in your life! God's Word is sovereign. He will never go back on His Word.
The Lord God created us from the dust of the ground, breathed His life into us; and set us up as rulers over the physical realm. Every since our fall, He has been working His plan to restore us to the place from which we fell. Since we didn't fall from heaven, it is not God's ultimate goal for us.
There are two concepts: a religious concept that states you are a Christian who is waiting to go to heaven ("I'll Fly Away"; "In the Sweet By and By") and a Kingdom concept that states you are a Kingdom citizen with dominion authority under God's government.
