Kingdom 102: Applying the Kingdom

How do you apply the Kingdom to your life? The answer is simple; by reading, listening, studying and being obedient to God's Word (the Bible). Then He will give you the gift of the Holy Spirit to teach and guide you through this world system. “If you love Me, keep My commandments. And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever—the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you." Your life should be a reflection of the King. In essence, when you are obedient to His Word, you are being an example of the Kingdom culture and you become that light that King Jesus spoke of while He was here on earth. “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven."
Please take note that the Lord Jesus stated "that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven". All the praise goes to Him. Why? Because He is Lord and Creator of all. He is the one that has given you the Kingdom mindset through your obedience to His Word. Finally, He is the one who has given you the power to overcome the evil one. Keep in mind what Jesus said: "But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” The Holy Spirit is God's Spirit living in your mortal body, to guide and teach you. However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you.
Keep in mind, the word Kingdom also means to have influence over a territory; and we are that territory. When we seek first the Kingdom of God, we are seeking His influence to be extended over the entire face of the earth, person by person. This influence should include your private life, your business life, your marriage life, your relationships, your sexual life and all other parts of your behavior and lifestyle. We do not close off areas of our life to the Kingdom. It is all or nothing. That is how you apply the Kingdom. When you close off areas of your life to God's Kingdom influence, you will not see His Kingdom authority and gifts manifest in your life. Not seeing the blessings and power of the Kingdom culture in your life? Examine yourself for areas of your life to which you have not applied Biblical Kingdom principles.
When you display the Kingdom lifestyle on a consistent basis in your community, your job, your school and your unbelieving family members; you become influential to those around you. When you have applied the Kingdom to your life, you introduce the Kingdom to every environment you enter! The people around you may not like you, but they will be led to respect you for your Kingdom principles--not because you try to preach to everyone you see.
When you are a Kingdom citizen, that is your only true allegiance. You cannot identify with or give your allegiance to your race or nationality and still call yourself a Kingdom citizen. Kingdom citizens come in every race, creed and nationality but when they accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior and begin to apply God's Word to their life, they are now citizens of the Kingdom of God and anything else that would divide God's people is unacceptable. This includes wealth and riches also. See what the Lord Jesus said concerning riches: “No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon." There is only one who deserves our allegiance. That is the King! Now, this raises another important point. People can tell where your allegiance lies. If you claim to believe and follow the King, your life will reflect that culture. It will reflect that influence of His Kingdom government and the Holy Spirit (our Governor) in your life and your behavior. Your mouth will reveal the truth. There is no getting around it. If you hang around a smoker, you will eventually smell like smoke. If you keep drinking alcohol, your skin will give off that aroma. Even eating a lot of garlic will cause that smell to radiate out of your pores. When you are filled with the Word, walking in obedience and filled with the Holy Spirit; it radiates out of you. People will notice and will want what you have. And another will begin the path of seeking the Kingdom!
Please always remember, your faith in the Lord Jesus is your greatest asset and firm foundation.
