Kingdom 101: Conflicting Kingdoms
Regardless of what rulers of this world may say or think, God reigns as King and absolute sovereign over all things in both the spiritual and physical realm. After He created the earth with all its various plant and animal life, He created mankind to manage and cultivate this planet. Remember, I am speaking of before man became disobedient. By His design, man was supposed to rule the earthly domain. That was His original intent. Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” The Lord God is Creator as well as King of the universe and we are to be His ruling representatives in this physical realm. But Adam failed to follow the King's command, so now we reside in a fallen world. If we accept His Son, we can be reborn and recover what we lost (a Kingdom).
As the Lord's ambassadors on this earth, (those of us who are filled with the Holy Spirit) we are the Kingdom of God on earth. The Kingdom of God, therefore, is not the earth itself, but the ones who are chosen to function as His ambassadors in this earthly domain. This planet isn't the Kingdom of God. King Jesus made this statement: Now when He was asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, He answered them and said, “The kingdom of God does not come with observation; nor will they say, ‘See here!’ or ‘See there!’ For indeed, the kingdom of God is within you.”
The Lord God's Kingdom is His Spirit in us carrying out His domain on the planet earth. The Lord's Kingdom is manifested in His people (meaning those who keep His commands) rather than in a particular place. In the Lord's Constitution, it states: The heaven, even the heavens, are the Lord’s; but the earth He has given to the children of men. Remember, every King and ruler must have territory to rule. My question to you is this: Who rules and controls your life? Is He the King of your life?
Heaven is God's territory; the earth is ours. We were created to dominate the earth, not heaven. Heaven isn't our home. Jesus stated: Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away. I remind you, King Jesus spoke constantly concerning the Kingdom. Sometimes He referred to it as the "Kingdom of God", other times He referred to it as the "Kingdom of Heaven". One deals with the person the other refers to the place. Both are distinctive. Whenever Jesus mentioned the "Kingdom of God" He is referring to the actual rule of the Lord God in the spiritual realm. When He mentions the Kingdom of Heaven, He is speaking of the "headquarters" and the heavenly invasion upon the earth, or the transfer of power from the spiritual ream to the physical realm.
Always remember, God's Word is sovereign. Ambassador Peter reminds us of this: Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.
Genesis 1:26 Luke 17:20-21 Psalm 115:16 Mark 13:31 II Peter 3:13
