It is Just What it is, the Good News of the Kingdom Pt 2
Please note: What Jesus told Peter when he cut off the ear of the high priest:
Constitutional Scripture: John 18:10-11 Then Simon Peter, having a sword, drew it and struck the high priest’s servant, and cut off his right ear. The servant’s name was Malchus. 11) So Jesus said to Peter, “Put your sword into the sheath. Shall I not drink the cup which My Father has given Me?”
Question: Now do you think that these devout militants serve the same God that we serve? Many things are done in the name of God that are far from the Spirit of God. Unfortunately, the "Christian" church throughout history has been far from blameless in this regard.
Please note: Anytime the church becomes obsessed with "advancing the kingdom for Jesus' sake" to the point of abusing and even killing people, seizing other people's property, and fighting among ourselves, then we cease to accurately and effectively represent God in the world. We literally cease to be the church of the living God. We may carry the name of Jesus, but we have most definitely strayed far from His Spirit.
Always remember, God is not in the business of killing people, burning buildings or destroying property. Advancing the kingdom of God does not involved an invasion of physical territories. It involves an invasion into the inward part of man's soul, capturing the heart and mind for the purpose of God.
Please note: Our mission and purpose on this planet called earth is not to overrun nations and put a knife to people's throats and threaten them until they "see the light" and then turn to Christ. The Kingdom of God has invaded earth, but its target is human beings' hearts, not geographical territory.
Please note: God does not need to conquer the earth because it already belongs to Him.
Constitutional Scripture: Psalm 24:1 The earth is the Lord’s, and all its fullness, the world and those who dwell therein.
Focus Point: Our Kingdom is not of this world, but disobedience has blinded our eyes and we do not know who we are or where we come from. God wants to restore us to our former place of honor, dominion and authority. This will happen once we submit our will to the leading of the Holy Spirit in our lives. For it is the Spirit that makes us alive. He wants us to rediscover and reclaim our inheritance.
Remember what God states in His Word concerning the Holy Spirit.
Constitutional Scripture: Romans 8:9 But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His.
