He Is Constant In the Midst of Change
Keep in mind, whether you are responding to change or creating it, you must have an element in your life that is an permanent fixture and stable; something that transcends the past, the present and the future. You need to keep your mind and heart grounded in who you are, where you are going and the values by which you conduct your life. You need a "constant", if you will. There is only One who can fill this need.
Focus Point: He is the Unchangeable One
Your one constant in the midst of change is your Lord God the Creator. Despite the fact that everything on earth changes, God declares when speaking to the prophet Malachi:
For I am the Lord, I do not change; Therefore you are not consumed, O sons of Jacob (Malachi 3:6)
Focus Point: This statement does not imply that the Lord God is stagnant; unimaginative or even archaic. This unchanging nature of the Lord God can be compared to the nature of a fundamental principle. Principles are designated as such because the are consistent. The Lord God never changes in the sense that He is invariable in His nature, character and integrity. His acts may change, but His essence always remains the same. In His Constitution, He makes it very plain.
Constitutional Scriptures:
James 1:16-17 Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren. 17) Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.
Hebrews 11:28-29 Therefore, since we are receiving a Kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear. 29) For our God is a consuming fire.
Focus Point: Keep in mind, that everything else is changing, but the Lord God and Creator of the universe remains the same. This gives you confidence in the midst of these unsettling times.
Constitutional Scripture: Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever.
Focus Point: The greatest security against the disorientation and disruption of change is our reliance on the unchanging God.
Focus Point: Remember, the Lord God is predictable only in the sense that His nature is unchanging. The Lord is always true to Himself, and He is always true to His Holy Word.
You can't count on 100 percent truthfulness from any human being, but you can count on God's truthfulness and faithfulness. Here is what Moses declared:
Constitutional Scripture: Numbers 23:19 God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?
Read what the Psalmist stated centuries ago:
Constitutional Scripture: Psalm 119:137,140 Righteous are You, O Lord, and upright are Your judgments 140) Your Word is very pure; therefore Your servant loves it.
David made another statement:
Constitutional Scripture: Psalm 145:13 Your kingdom is an everlasting Kingdom, and Your dominion endures throughout all generations.
Focus Point: Remember, our Lord and Creator made us, and He is faithful to all His promises. No matter what changes may come in your life or on this earth, you can depend on Him to fulfill what He promised. The Apostle Paul stated it this way:
Constitutional Scripture: II Corinthians 1:20 For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.
Please note: Keep in mind, if God promised it, you can believe it's going to take place, regardless of whatever else occurs. No matter what other people predict about the future, if God has promised something, you can say, Amen. In my favorite words "We're done"!
