He Came Under the Cover of Darkness
Nicodemus was a respected Jewish leader. He came to Jesus the Lord, seeking the kingdom. Jesus expressed to him that he needed to be "born again":
Constitutional scripture: John 3:3 In reply Jesus declared, "I tell you that the truth, no one can see the Kingdom of God unless he is born again."
Once again another came to Him, seeking the kingdom. This time he was a young rich ruler:
Constitutional scripture Mark 10:17 As Jesus started on His way, a man ran up to Him and fell on his knees before Him, "Good teacher," he asked, "what must I do to inherit eternal life?"
The young man had money, but something else was missing in his life. Jesus gave a reply that he should give his wealth to the poor and come follow Him.
Constitutional scripture Mark 10:21 Jesus looked at him and loved him. "One thing you lack," He said, "Go sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me."
Once again, there was another incident, when a Samaritan woman who had been through five husbands and did not even know that she was looking for the kingdom until she met Jesus while drawing water from the well outside her village. This is what He told her concerning the living water:
Constitutional scripture John 4:10-18 Jesus answered her, "If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked Him and He would have given you living water." "Sir", the woman said, "you have nothing to draw with and the well is deep. Where can you get this living water?" Are You greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well and drank from it himself, as did also his sons and his flocks and herds?" Jesus answered, "Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, But whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life." The woman said to Him, "Sir, give me this water so that I won't get thirsty and have to keep coming here to draw water." He told her, "Go call your husband and come back. "I have no husband", she replied, Jesus said to her, "You are right when you say you have no husband. The fact is, you have had five husbands, the man you now have is not your husband. What you have just said is quite true."
Jesus knew that people everywhere were looking for the Kingdom. The same is true today. People are still looking for the kingdom, not another religion called Christianity or some other denomination such as Baptist, Methodist, Lutheran, Catholicism, Pentecostal, etc.
I notice as I share the Kingdom of God to others, in most case,s they associate Jesus with religion. It is like going to a restaurant and ordering coffee but it's 99% milk, added to it. That is how many look and view Jesus when you mention Jesus the Christ. We have embraced this kingdom concept in which Christ thought and preached and commanded us to do the same.
People are not looking for religion; they are looking for power and the kingdom offers power. The kingdom represents the dominion we lost when Adam and Eve fell, and our nature drives us forward in a constant attempt to restore it. The Harvest is ready. If we preach the Gospel of the Kingdom of God, people will respond.
