Embracing a Kingdom Lifestyle

A lifestyle is a way that one chooses to live their life. It is the choice that an individual makes. It does not come overnight. It is a learning process. The lifestyle that one chooses to live is one of habits. It is a learned behavior. It is a mindset. It is an attitude that one adopts. In any case, the way a person arrives at the lifestyle that they embrace, is through their behaviors and thinking process. For as he thinks in his heart, so is he. “Eat and drink!” he says to you, But his heart is not with you. Proverbs 23:7
In order for one to embrace the Kingdom of God, one's mindset has to be transformed. This comes through studying and reading His Constitution (the Word). We must surrender our whole self to the Holy Spirit. I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. Romans 12:1-2
Being transformed. It is a process.
Your mind is an integral part of your soul. It will affect your whole being. This is why it has to be transformed through God's Word. It has to be subject to the guidance and leading of the Holy Spirit. This is why He was sent to us from above. And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, “which,” He said, “you have heard from Me; for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.” Acts 1:4-5 Be aware, the Holy Spirit comes through obedience to the King's Word. In other words, you must be in line with God's purpose for your life. In essence, you must be willing to submit to God's Word. Remember, God gave His Son to all mankind so the only way to the Father is through His Son. There is no exception. Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. John 14:6
The Kingdom lifestyle is one of peace not war. Jesus has angels for that. In God's Kingdom, angels are His army. But Jesus said to him, “Friend, why have you come?” Then they came and laid hands on Jesus and took Him. And suddenly, one of those who were with Jesus stretched out his hand and drew his sword, struck the servant of the high priest, and cut off his ear. But Jesus said to him, “Put your sword in its place, for all who take the sword will perish by the sword. Or do you think that I cannot now pray to My Father, and He will provide Me with more than twelve legions of angels? How then could the Scriptures be fulfilled, that it must happen thus?” Matthew 26:50-54
Our attitude is to be in unison with a Kingdom mindset. Our behavior should never be contrary to God's Word. Jesus told Peter to put up his weapon. Why? Because our battle is not with flesh and blood, but spiritual principalities. Paul likened it as a Roman soldier's armor. Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints— and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak. Ephesians 6:10-20 This is what a citizen of the Kingdom should embrace.
Above all, be led by the Holy Spirit, our Kingdom Governor! For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God.
But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His. And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.
Therefore, brethren, we are debtors—not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. Romans 8:5-14
Remember, your faith in His Word is your greatest asset in the Kingdom.
