And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience... Allow me to clarify "you once walked": In God's Constitution, "walking" represents an image of a Kingdom Citizen's steady and normal progress with God. Blessed is the man, who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful.
In Ephesians, ambassador Paul refers to a citizens old lifestyle, whether it was a path of moral carelessness or the dark alley of evil, because Kingdom citizens should no longer live according to their past evil ways. But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ’s gift.
Citizens of the Kingdom are reborn so that they can have a lifestyle characterized by obedience to God's Word and good behavior. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. They are to conduct themselves worthy of their calling.--I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called,--which means to live in love. And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma.--and in light--For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light--and in wisdom. See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise.
Paul points out to his audience that they formerly lived according to the world's system and after the prince of the power of the air, namely Satan. The sons of obedience are individuals who disobeyed God's Word.
But He turned and said to Peter, “Get behind Me, Satan! You are an offense to Me, for you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men.” ~~Matthew 16:23
And the Lord said, “Simon, Simon! Indeed, Satan has asked for you, that he may sift you as wheat. But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail; and when you have returned to Me, strengthen your brethren.”~~Luke 22:31-32
But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back part of the price of the land for yourself?~~Acts 5:3
