Representing the King
Understanding ourselves as ambassadors of Christ and representatives of His Kingdom relieves a lot of self-induced pressure. Being Christ's ambassador is a wonderful privilege, but it also comes with tremendous responsibilities, such as: A) Speaking the words of the King; B) Being concerned with only the interests of the King; C) Speaking only on behalf of His government; D) Maintaining connection and communication with the King and; E) Carrying out the policies established by the King. Although our call to be ambassadors of the King might seem overwhelming, the pressure of that responsibility is eased somewhat once you realize that all you have to be concerned with is speaking the words of your King. Remember, an ambassador is a representative of that individual's culture. Jesus followed that course without exception, which is why He was so successful in His earthly ministry while down here. King Jesus made this statement in reference to His departure: “When you lift up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am He, and that I do nothing of Myself; but as My Father taught Me, I speak these things. Jesus also made this statement: “My Father has been working until now, and I have been working."
As ambassadors of Christ, we should be concerned only with the interests of our King. By the way, I didn't say as a "Christian". Why? Because we aren't "Christians". That is a name that we embraced at Antioch. Jesus never referred to His disciples as "Christians". Everything we say and do should reflect the Kingdom culture, desire and purpose. Our personal opinion does not matter. It is completely improper for an ambassador to express his personal opinion while acting in his official capacity as the representative and voice of his government.
An ambassador who strays across the line into the territory of personal opinion risks jeopardizing his nation's reputation and possibly even its security, and sets himself up for possible censure and recall. Speak God's Word, not your opinion. You should always read and study God's Word as a legal book and not as a religious book. It is God's Testament, Old and New.
Testament is a legal term, meaning: a legal declaration by which a person, names one or more persons to manage his or her estate and provides for the distribution of his property. Read God's TESTAMENT with that mindset and it will come alive to you!
