If anyone teaches otherwise and does not consent to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which accords with godliness, he is proud, knowing nothing, but is obsessed with disputes and arguments over words, from which come envy, strife, reviling, evil suspicions, useless wranglings of men of corrupt minds and destitute of the truth, who suppose that godliness is a means of gain. From such withdraw yourself. Now godliness with contentment is great gain.
We should always be filled with the Spirit. ...and do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit. Your life should be full of the Word of God. This comes through reading and meditating--To dwell on any thing in thought; to contemplate; to study; to turn or revolve any subject in the mind--on the Word of God (constantly). The Word of God should always be a priority. This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.
The ambassador Paul put it this way: Remind them of these things, charging them before the Lord not to strive about words to no profit, to the ruin of the hearers. Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. Paul was concerned for those who were listening to the arguments. never debate or argue around others. That is not who citizens of the Kingdom are.
In today's society there are many who aren't what they claim to be. We have to be aware of them. ...having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!
