Staying Calm in the Midst of Chaos
There was a time when Jesus the King received a message that Lazarus, His dear friend, was sick. Now because He kept a close relationship with God the Father, Jesus knew how to handle specific times of critical change. Now how did He respond to this news? He didn't drop everything, but adjusted His thoughts to control His response, based in His Father's guidance. Obeying God's Word is staying in great relationship with the King. The King and His Words are one. Jesus was always in harmony with His Father, because He always obeyed His Word. Because of this fact, God knows those who are His. Read what Christ stated: "My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father's hand. I and My Father are one".
Do you remember what Jesus the King stated to those who brought the news of Lazarus' sickness? "...this sickness was not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God may be glorified through it". Keep in mind, Jesus didn't leave right away, but He stayed where He was. He stayed calm. In fact, He stayed two more days. He continued what He was doing rather than going to Lazarus. His disciples apparently believed He was staying in order to avoid danger from His enemies. "The disciples said to Him, 'Rabbi, lately the Jews sought to stone You and are you going there again?" His thoughts were of His present business and not of what others may do to Him. When you know your purpose and you are in your purpose, you will always be calm and peaceful in the midst of chaos and crisis.
