Now after six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John his brother, led them up on a high mountain by themselves; and He was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and His clothes became as white as the light.
And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, talking with Him. Then Peter answered and said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good for us to be here; if You wish, let us make here three tabernacles: one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.”
While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them; and suddenly a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Hear Him!”
The Father God spoke these words "This is my Beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased" Why was the Lord God well pleased with His Son?...Because He was obedient to His Word. By the way, these are the same words God had spoken at the Lord Jesus' baptism.
And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”
“I will declare the decree: The Lord has said to Me, ‘You are My Son, Today I have begotten You."
“Behold! My Servant whom I uphold, My Elect One in whom My soul delights! I have put My Spirit upon Him; He will bring forth justice to the Gentiles.
Please note: The Lord God made it very clear when Moses and Elijah disappeared that the Lord Jesus was left and that Jesus was the King. Also that all should obey and listen to Him.
For Moses truly said to the fathers, ‘The Lord your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your brethren. Him you shall hear in all things, whatever He says to you. And it shall be that every soul who will not hear that Prophet shall be utterly destroyed from among the people.’ Yes, and all the prophets, from Samuel and those who follow, as many as have spoken, have also foretold these days. You are sons of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying to Abraham, ‘And in your seed all the families of the earth shall be blessed.’
It is because of Abraham (the Promise), that we are blessed. Thank the Lord God for His Promise to Israel. For He always keeps His promises.
