“I came to send fire on the earth, and how I wish it were already kindled! But I have a baptism to be baptized with, and how distressed I am till it is accomplished!
"I came to send fire"
Fire is an image associated with the Lord God's judgment. Therefore thus says the Lord God of hosts: “Because you speak this word, Behold, I will make My words in your mouth fire, and this people wood, and it shall devour them." “Is not My word like a fire?” says the Lord, “And like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces?
Jesus' coming brings judgment on those who refuse to accept His message, and accept Him as Lord. His coming divides those who have faith in His Word from those who fail to listen and obey His Word. For the Lord God sent His Son to restore the Kingdom. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
“He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
Keep in mind, though King Jesus was ready for the judgment of mankind, other things had to begin its process first. Remember, Jesus has to be your number one priority. He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me. He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for My sake will find it.
Luke 12:49-50 Jeremiah 5:14 & 23:29 John 3:16-18 Matthew 10:37-39
