Characteristics of Being Developed
1. Planning
Planning is inherent in God's purpose. Before a developer starts constructing an eighty story building or shopping complex, he has to draw up the building plans. He presents the plans to the appropriate government officials in order to obtain the required permits. The plans include what will be constructed as well as how it will be used. The structure and usage are essential to the plans.
For example: The Father as Developer planned the garden and also planned what would be in it. The Lord structured streams to come up from the earth in order to water the garden. God provided food for Adam and Eve. He had a plan concerning what they could and could not eat, and gave specific usage instructions to Adam.
Constitutional Scripture: Genesis 1:29 Then God said, "I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food.
Constitutional Scripture: Genesis 2:16-17 And the Lord God commanded the man: "You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; 17) but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die."
2. Preparing and Planting
Once there is a plan, the developer begins the necessary groundwork for building his project. Earth movers come in and drainage is provided. The land is cultivated to accept the building: first the foundation and then the framework. Likewise, the sower prepares the soil and sows the seed in planning for the harvest.
Constitutional Scripture: Genesis 2:8 Now the Lord God had planted a garden in the east, in Eden; and there He put the man He had formed.
3. Protecting
Keep in mind, every developer protects his construction site. He may place guard dogs at the site or build a barbed wire fence to keep out intruders. The farmer who plants and develops a crop uses whatever means of protection his crop needs to guard against insects, diseases and vandals. He tends the crop by pulling up weeds and providing adequate irrigation. Now God, the developer, protected man by warning him not to eat from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil and giving him instructions on what to do in the garden. The Lord also walked with Adam and Eve in the cool of the evening. Keeping in fellowship with God was protection for them.
Constitutional Scripture Genesis 3:8 Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as He was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the Lord God among the trees of the garden.
4. Producing
Keep in mind, once a building is finished, the developer uses his houses or commercial building to produce income. The farmer who grows a crop doesn't just leave it in the field. He harvests it because he has produced fruits and vegetables that he can sell and use. In the same way, the Father develops us to be productive in His plan and purpose.
Jesus made this statement:
Constitutional Scripture: John 15:8 By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit, so you will be My disciples.
Remember, like the Father, an earthly father develops his wife and children. He plans their growth in every aspect of life: physically, intellectually, emotionally and spiritually.
Always remember, the father is not only the head of a family, but the foundation and the leader. A father walks each step of the way with his family as he prepares and equips them in the ways of the Lord God. He plants the seed of God's Word in their hearts. He protects them with prayer and with his presence and provision for their lives. As a godly father walks with his family, he is an example of holiness for them. He expects the best from them in producing good fruit, which gives glory to the Father. He develops his offspring to glow with the glory of God. A father expects his family to be the light of the world, the salt of the earth and obedient Kingdom citizens as well as effective witnesses for Christ in the world.
Remember, light produces light. The light of Christ in a father's life sets his family ablaze for Christ.
Constitutional Scripture: Daniel 12:3 Those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the firmament, and those who turn many to righteousness like the stars forever and ever.
