Change is a Process....
Romans 12:2 says...
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is —his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Keep in mind, to be conformed means "to form" or "to mold". Here "world" is the normal word for "age" or "era". Now rather than being molded by the societies of this world, we should be transformed--that is changed--by the renewing of the mind. That is accomplished by taking in new information. Spiritual transformation starts in the mind and heart of the individual.
A mind dedicated to the world system and its concerns will produce a life tossed back and forth by the currents of this culture. Also remember that we have to guard our thoughts. A mind dedicated to seeking the Kingdom and His righteousness has no room for anything else. We can resist the temptation of our culture by meditating, reading and studying the Word of God, and allowing the Holy Spirit to guide us to that truth. What I have just mentioned is so true! We have to allow, or submit, our will to Him (meaning the Holy Spirit) and in doing this, God gets the glory.

Jesus Himself made this statement:
Acts 1:8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.
The Holy Spirit gives you the power to overcome any obstacles. By filling your mind with God's Word, there is no room for the junk of the world. You will have a firm foundation on which to withstand the storms of life!
