Believe It or Not, The Kingdom is Here
Constitutional Scripture: Genesis 3:15 And I will put enmity between you and the woman and your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head and you shall bruise His heel.
Adam and Eve's rebellion cost them their Kingdom. With Adam and Eve's abdication, Lucifer seized control of their earthly domain as a brazen, arrogant and illegal pretender to His throne.
Immediately, the King of Heaven put in motion His plan to restore what man had lost and that was a "Kingdom". Keep in mind, Adam and Eve did not lose a religion because they had never had a religion; they had a kingdom. Religion is the invention of man; it was born of his efforts to find God and restore the kingdom on his own. But only God can restore the kingdom man lost.
It was the people at Antioch that called the disciples "Christian" not Jesus or God: And when he had found him, he brought him to Antioch. So it was that for a whole year they assembled with the church and taught a great many people. And the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch. Acts 11:26 Then the name picked up momentum and began to spread. Yet if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in this matter. I Peter 4:16 Then Agrippa said to Paul, “You almost persuade me to become a Christian.” Acts 26:28
Remember the first words of Jesus' ministry were an announcement of the arrival of the Kingdom. This was the only message that Jesus preached. Everything He said and did related to the Kingdom and it's arrival on planet earth.
Jesus made this statement, "repent" (which means to change your mind or adapt a new way of life or thinking) "for the Kingdom of Heaven is near". (which means, in effect, that it has arrived.) When Jesus brought the Kingdom of Heaven to earth, He brought also the promise of restoring to the human race the dominion over the earth that Adam and Eve had lost in Eden. He brought back our rulership; not over people, but over things. God's original intent was for us to never rule over other people.
Questions to ponder:
1. What do you imagine Adam and Eve's kingdom was like before they sinned? When they abdicated their rule, who took over for Adam and Eve? Why is his throne illegal?
2. Why do you think God wants to restore to us what we lost in the Garden of Eden? Have you seen this process of restoration in your life and in the lives of those around you?
3. Adam and Eve did not lose a religion because they had never had a religion; they had a kingdom. What does this mean to you? How is religion a dead end while a kingdom promises eternity?
4. Why is the source of kingdom restoration so important to the success of God's purpose for earth? When man tries to restore the kingdom, what is the result?
5. By looking at Jesus' example, what do you see about the importance of the Kingdom of God to us? How does His example show you what purpose you have in colonization and how you are to conduct kingdom business?
Focus Thought: Keep in mind, before we could be fully restored to our kingdom, the matter of our rebellion against God had to be dealt with. Jesus' death paid the price for our rebellion so that we could be restored to a right standing with our king, and be re-installed in our rightful place as rulers of this earthly domain. The Cross of Christ is about a kingdom restoration of power and authority. It is about regaining rulership, not a religion.
Being Thankful: Take a few minutes of your time to thank God for your right standing with Him because of the blood of Jesus the Christ.
Question: How do you define your rulership and not your religion?
