A Sacrifice of Praise
I will praise the Lord according to His righteousness, and will sing praise to the name of the Lord Most High. …To the end that my glory may sing praise to You and not be silent. O Lord my God, I will give thanks to You forever. NKJV King David made this statement in Psalm. He states he will praise Him forever.
Before we go any further, let us consider the meaning of the word “sacrifice”: 1. a. The act of offering the life of an individual or animal, or some object in propitiation of, or homage to, a deity; b. something so offered; 2. Something valued for the sake of something having a more pressing claim. Now let us view the meaning of the word “praise”: 1. To commend the worth of express approval or admiration of; 2. To land the glory of (God, etc) as in a song; to extol.
There was a time when David pretended to be mad in the presence of King Abimelech of Goth and departed from his presence. Afterward, King David said, I will praise the Lord at all times. I will instantly speak His praises. I will boast only in the Lord; let all who are helpless take heart. Come, let us tell of the Lord’s greatness; let us exalt His name together. Notice, not one time is the word ‘sacrifice’ mentioned. That is because sacrifice is to give up something. In the Kingdom of God, all of the Kingdom citizens are forever giving Him praise and glory, regardless of their situation. Ambassador Paul said it this way: Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.
Keep in mind that the Lord God has put everything under His Son’s feet. Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth…” Therefore, when citizens of the Kingdom government pray to the Father they always use the name of the King, Jesus the Christ. It is not a sacrifice to praise King Jesus; it is a lifestyle. Religious people consider it a sacrifice when they offer praise to Him in song or otherwise. Kingdom citizens live by and with praise; it is part of their culture and everyday life.
Again, let’s read what King David said in Psalms: I will sing to the Lord as long as I live. I will praise my God to my last breath! May all my thoughts be pleasing to Him, for I rejoice in the Lord. Praise is a part of our way of life, in essence it is our culture to praise our Lord and King! When you are in His purpose for your life and doing the assignment that He has given you, you will constantly give Him praise, because you know: And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose for them. So, even when things don't work out they way you prayed they would, praise the Lord because you know He will cause everything to work out for your good!
Remember, for religious people, praise is a sacrifice. For citizens of the Kingdom government, it is our culture and should be part of our everyday life. To people who are truly born again of the Spirit of the Lord God, praising the King is a way of life. It is part of our culture. To those people who go under the name Christian, they call it a “sacrifice of praise”. Those who consider it a sacrifice, don’t really have the revelation of who God is and all He has done for them! If you look at your life and meditate on that awhile, you will be grateful for all that He has done!
Did you wake up this morning with breath in your lungs? Praise the Lord! Let everything that breathes sing praises to the Lord! Live with an attitude of praise, come what may, because you are a citizen of the Kingdom of God and He cares for even the little things in His Kingdom. Don't save it for the right music or the right building; praise the Lord where ever you are...even in your car on the way to work. Praise God you have a job and a car and you got safely to work. What will you praise Him for today? Cultivate an attitude of praise, it's not a sacrifice!
Again, I close with the reminder that your faith in the Lord God’s Word is your greatest asset.
